National Research Council D I I T E T The Department of Engineering, ICT and Technologies for Energy and Transport (DIITET), given the number of researchers and technologists, has the critical mass and scientific production for accreditation in the fields of civil and industrial en- gineering, systems and communications, information technology/computer science, and applied mathematics. For this reason, in the next three years, DIITET will focus on strengthening connections between its strategic and project areas and will work to seize the opportunities that may derive from synergies with stakeholders. Whilst research institutes are the primary place for the development of disciplinary knowledge, DIITET must be considered the focal point for the requirements of the industrial sector, of society, other CNR Departments and also the scientific communities outside the CNR, becoming the promoter of scouting of innovation, analyzing development trends and questioning companies about their research requirements. At the same time, DIITET will also have to structure its own range of technologies and competences, effectively promoting such range on the market; in this context, the patenting activity of the Researchers is inserted, who every day welcome the new challenges of technological development to pro- mote and foster innovation and the transfer of knowledge for the benefit of companies and society as a whole. I L D I I T E T Il Dipartimento di Ingegneria, ICT e Tecnologie per l’Energia e i Trasporti (DIITET). per numero di ricercatori e tecnologi, ha la massa critica e produzione scientifica utile per accreditarsi, nei settori dell’ingegneria civile e industriale, dei sistemi e delle comunicazioni, dell’informatica/computer science, della matematica applicata. Per questo, nel prossimo triennio il DIITET punterà sul potenziamento delle connessioni tra le sue aree strategiche e progettuali e lavorerà per cogliere op- portunità che possano derivare dalle sinergie con gli stakeholders. Se gli istituti sono il luogo primario di sviluppo della conoscenza disciplinare, il DIITET dovrà essere il collettore della do- manda proveniente dai settori industriali, dalla società, dagli altri Dipartimenti CNR e dalle comunità scientifiche esterne all’Ente, facendosi promotore di scouting dell’innovazione, analizzando trend di sviluppo ed interrogando le imprese circa i loro bisogni di ricerca. Allo stesso tempo dovrà anche strutturare la propria offerta di tecnologie e competenze pro- muovendola efficacemente sul mercato; in questo quadro si inserisce l’attività brevettuale dei Ricercatori, che ogni giorno accolgono le nuove sfide dello sviluppo tecnologico per favorire l’innovazione e il trasferimento di conoscenza a vantaggio delle imprese e della società civile.
