Presentation of the new CNR Laboratory on Life Cycle Thinking – Rome, June 18th 2025<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The Cnr\u00a0LCT Laboratory is the new joint laboratory for Life Cycle Thinking that involves 11 Cnr research Institutes. It was officially presented on Wednesday, June 18, at the\u00a0Rome\u00a0headquarters of the National Research Council of Italy. The event, sponsored by the\u00a0Engineering, ICT and Technologies for Energy and Trasportation Department (Cnr-Diitet) and open to all Cnr staff, was attended by over 50 researchers, a third part\u00a0of them participated in person.<\/p>\n The Life Cycle Thinking (LCT) is a quantitative, multidisciplinary and scientific approach adopted to assess life cycle of environmental, social, and economic impacts of human activities.<\/p>\n The LCT HUB approch leverags CNR\u2019s strong multidisciplinary nature, it was conceived as a common space for sharing ideas, information, initiatives, and tools. It’s goal is to harmonize the wide-ranging scientific expertise present within the CNR and to jointly develop new projects on LCT and sustainability topics.<\/p>\n Currently, the institutes participating in the LCT HUB belong to three different departments (DIITET, the Chemical Sciences and Materials Technologies Department – DSCTM, and of Bio-Agricultural Sciences\u00a0Department\u00a0– DISBA),\u00a0but there is also the intention to\u00a0expand its scope including social sciences and humanities.<\/p>\n During the presentation event, researchers highlighted specific aspects and challenges related to the adoption of LCT methodologies, they had the aim of fostering collective reflection and encouraging collaboration among the various institutes.<\/p>\n The presented topics included the optimization of analysis and measurement tools, the development of sustainable systems, and the application of LCT for the sustainable use of resources in key sectors such as food, agriculture,\u00a0livestock, manufacturing, construction, chemicals, and energy technologies. They\u00a0\u00a0also placed emphasis on the technological solutions of research results regard\u00a0circular economy\u00a0and the support for their valorization through the LCT HUB.<\/p>\n In the near future, the LCT HUB will present itself to the general public and to launch social media channels, which will be used to share information on the main activities and progress achieved, making research and its results accessible to all stakeholders.<\/p>\n Per informazioni:<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n
